This hand is fairly soon after that. He'd been 3-betting a lot so I think defending ATo is fine. I also didn't think he was 3-betting hands like AJ, KQ, KJ as his flat was quite high. I feel like I need to float this flop as good things can happen to me. We can check down and I win, I can bluff if I think it's a good spot to, he might barrel the T and A, etc. He bets the turn again and I think it polarises him to AA, AK, KK, 4x. I also think he's barreling all gutshots, flush draws, and just pure air a lot given the K. I think I need to call here again. River seems standard.
I guess I want to ask what line I should be taking postflop as standard without much history given my reads so far.

This one's pretty much straight after. I hadn't 3-bet him since the 77 hand so I thought he might think I'd tightened up. When he flats I think this flop smacks his range pretty well so I decide to give up. When he checks back though I decide to double barrel as I don't think he really has anything strong enough to call. I can represent a few things as well - a flush that was looking to crai, a Kx that was pot controlling, even AA pot controlling. This look ok?

Here's something I was always going on about to you Chris. To check raise the turn for value he obviously needs 5x or 33. He'll check raise the flop sometimes with those - especially given we're deep. If he doesn't c/r the flop he'll just c/c the turn too sometimes. So he doesn't have that many value hands. Not only that, but if I flat and shove over his river bet he can't ever think I'm bluffing and he should fold a lot of those value hands. What do you think?
77: Had you been 3betting that much that (30%+ imo) you felt he was ready to 4bet bluff? If not I dislike the 3bet shove with 77.
ReplyDeleteATo: Defending Ato is fine, but i'd call with the Ace of spades on the flop and fold the hand you have. I completely disagree that you can rep much after just flatting that board because you got 77 in pf and pretty much any pair raises or draw jams that board. So you will be repping floats only.
87o: Bet the flop. How does this smack his range. 4bets kk/QQ/99/AK/AQ. Then he has enough 22 - 88 and suited connectors that whiff and suited Aces. Once you don't bet just give up, let it go. You get hero called quite frequent here, nobody ever expects you topot control a king there and nor should they. You rep AQ, as any other pair hand that checks flop, bets turn, checks the river. You semi rep clubs but again people can't expect you to take that line as it's not standard.
76s: I hate this, grog probably loves it. His line is so unusual as a bluff that for me he just has to have it. I expect to see 33 most often or a a weirdly played 5.
I'd personally bevery surprised if this worked, but i'm guessing this is your positive balance hand?
ATo- I don't know, I think good regs would bet 99-QQ again. Maybe not good regs, but I certainly would 'repping the barrel'. If I considered him good I'd fold turn, if not I'd call again.
ReplyDelete87- I give up this flop, as you were prolly planning to, but only stab once...... it's like any hand you then want to bet two streets for big value you surely would be protecting on this flop. I guess you're hoping to fold out Axc
76s- I like it very much, I wouldn't have thought about this way. Only worry is him getting creative with some slowplayed AA AK, which isn't a big worry granted.
